Basic Obedience

Basic Obedience is designed for dogs 6 months old and older. The basic manners all good dogs should know are taught in this class. The lessons focus on building the relationship between dog and person and laying the groundwork for the harder basic manners. The Basic Obedience Program is 8 weeks long. Our basic program teaches the CGC tasks in addition to basic manners.

RolloverU offers 2 options for group classes. Wednesday nights and Saturdays. We have new classes starting each month. Group classes start every month. If you would prefer private lessons we have a special rate for a private basic obedience class.

We offer the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation as part of the Basic Obedience class.

Each weekly session has three parts, a Concept, Manners, and Extras. Concepts explain helpful things for humans to understand, like how dogs learn and training techniques. Manners focuses on the behavior(s) that are being highlighted for the week. Extras is all about having fun with your dog and teaches tricks or games that help build the bond and make training fun. Helpful tips and other beneficial information is shared in this section.

  1. Weeks 1-4
  2. Weeks 5 - 8

The first four weeks set the foundation for a well behaved dog that loves to learn. We teach half of the Canine Good Citizen test items and the below commands.

  • Week 1 - Orientation, introductions, and what to expect - No Dogs
  • Weeks 2 thru 4 - Basic manners and commands are taught. These are the foundation weeks and things like focus, sit, down, come, and stay are taught.
