Just like people, dogs like to feel useful. However, most dogs are pets or companions. They spend their days waiting for a master to pay attention to them. Most domesticated dogs were bred for a purpose not just to be a friend. Most small dogs were bred to chase and catch small vermin like rats, mice, and snakes. Larger dogs were expected to guard and help herd livestock along with providing security. Today more people live in urban areas instead of rural areas. Dogs don’t have as many opportunities to do what they were bred for anymore so they can get bored, depressed, or destructive. Having activities that they can do regularly that make a dog feel useful can be life-changing for some dogs.
We make learning fun and turn helpful activities into games and the dogs love it. The dogs are happier because they now feel like they have a purpose. This course is designed for dogs that are 6 months or older. Dogs must have Basic Obedience Skills. Skills will be tested unless the dog has the CGC or CGCA title or equivalent.
